PV 215/215D Cabinet questions

Post by iriegnome » Mon Mar 02, 2015 11:11 am

I just picked up a 2x15 bass cabinet. No Model number on it. Only a serial number of 3M-103455
Not sure exactly what I have. However, there is only a single 1/4" jack on it. It has slides on the side of it, used to have wheels and has no speakers in it.
Now, for drivers, I don't really care, but I would like to know kind of what I may have and about how old it is, so I am turning to the experts.
I have already e-mailed my question to Peavey CS, but have not heard anything yet.
Hoping you folks might be able to help.
I am attaching a pic of the info plate. I would attach more, but I don't have any others. Thanks in advance

Oh, also, can anyone tell me the difference in a Peavey 215 and a Peavey 215D cabinet?

I'm not sure about the serial number indications. I'm unclear as to whether you've got speakers to identify, or looking for a recommendation for something to put in it. If you need identification, pics with any number would be good. Recommendation would be Black Widows. The 2x15 is a "regular" size with the 2x15D being a "d"eeper cab.
you can't have too much bass

Just heard back from Peavey. The 3M indicates my cabinet is from 1973!! Also, they did not make their own drivers then. They used Eminence. My particular cabinet was called a 215RAM because I guess Eminence called the particular 15" drivers RAM.. So, I have to call Eminence to see if they might be able to identify a 1973 RAM 15" speaker and it's specs to try to replace it.. Also, need to try to locate an original pair of handles. Mine have been replaced and I prefer the ones that say Peavey on them.
