Need help for1991 FaLcon Custom

Postby songwriter » Tue Jun 06, 2017 11:52 pm

Hi guys,

I was able to add a 1991 Falcon custom on my USA made guitar collection. It is almost in a new condition. This guitar can be played very aggressive and it is growling like a mean dog. It hasn't been played much at all but strange thing is the out put jack. It is too easy to pull out. The cable stays there all time even if I shake it hard. It doesn't give me any problem but "easy to pull out" mean is future possible problem to me. I am wondering if this is normal for this year model or the custom models. Is there anything I Can do about it. Can anybody who has a same model of this guitar advise me? Thanks.

there should be a nut on the inside. My standard has a long barrel jack. nut on the inside that tightens the jack.

I see. I will have to check the inside and do something with the long barrel jack. Thank you for the reply.

Great. That's all I need. I appreciate for your help.

I found out that long barrel jack sockets are not repairable. They get a little twitchy after some use. When they get funky, you need replace them. There is no fixing for them. They have shorter life than a standard Switchcraft jack.

That's a beautiful guitar. I have the same one in same finish but quite battered, and a Falcon Standard that is near mint.
I found both benefitted greatly from a treble bleed mod, a .001uf cap in parallel with a 150K resistor soldered across the first two lugs on the volume pot. On both of mine, the pickups sounded great at full volume but lost treble rapidly when rolled back and got a bit muddy sounding. The treble bleed, for just a couple bucks in parts, changed the whole character of the guitar much for the better.

Congrats on a lovely instrument.

Yeah~ Peavey Falcon Custome guitars are hard to find these days. I will try to keep it as long as I can and enjoy. Thanks, Rex.
