For the love of the ODYSSEY

Post by bondedbybrick » Wed Sep 01, 2010 7:24 pm

OK everyone - show me your Odysseys! This is my new #1 axe. Took that honor from my Genny S3. What's the story behind development of the Odyssey? I understand why it never took off ($$$ price) but it seems the LP-Tele clone is now in fashion, witness the Hamer Talladega. Peavey ought to re-issue the original, not use the Odyssey name on the import line of metal axe's.............

Nah, I've had this for a couple of years. There was another trans-black one listed on evil-bay recently.

I need an Odyssey. Ever since I first played Chip Todd's Odyssey I have been in love with them. Must be my early years as a Les Paul guy.

Tony, i know this picture is gonna hurt you, but i'm going to post it anyway :D

Image

My four Odysseys.
I got the Custom from a guy in the Netherlands, the blue one came from the UK, the sunburst from France and the red one from the US.

Incredible guitars, i guess that's why i own 4 of them.
And Peavey is not known for making reissues, so i guess that will never happen.

Here are some more pics ...

And finally a closeup of the Custom, which is basically the same as the 25Th anniversary

At one time, a few years ago, i bought three Odysseys at the same time, from 1 seller, the three you see on the left:

I sold the blue and the honey to Rene M (who is a PV guy as well)
When i sent this pic to the seller, he noted: "i see you don't have a sunburst, would you like to have a sunburst as well?"
I hesitated for a short moment, but said 'YES PLEASE"

Zeppo - I knew you would come through with the best pic's!! WOW, that's quite a collection od Odyssey's. Interesting that all of them have a different bridge/tailpiece combo than what mine has and what I've always seen. Did you replace them? If so, why?

Here's one, I think. $900 is too much for me.

Way too much. One went for $650 on eBay, had hard case as well. I'd think around $600 would be the most, unless it's the 25th anniversary edition.

Way too expensive, that guitar has been listed there for more than two years.
I paid 450 (ex shipping) for them, except for the Custom
