Re: For the love of the ODYSSEY
I'm bumping this topic to the TOP so our new Odyssey owner can post pictures in this thread. Kind of a central repository for Odyssey pics and stories.

bondedbybrick - Thanks for the invite. Pics below.
This guitar simply amazes me as to why they aren't more collectible? Now granted, I've never played any other Odyssey model, but this one is simple unreal. I have owned/currently own - Gibson Les Pauls, other Gibsons, Fender, Carvin, Hamer (my fav!!!), Ibanez, a Peavey S-1, but this one....man I'm blessed to have it.
I took it to band practice yesterday and all the band members were totally floored by the quality of this guitar. Never in my life have I seen a guitar with such low action and no buzzing - in 30+ years of playing. 3-D Pearl Inlays, Quilted Bookmatched top, Mahogany body & neck, on and on and on....
I know it's the honeymoon period, but I think this will be a long honeymoon....I'm going to stop raving on the guitar now - I don't want the word getting too much out there. They are on my radar now...
Thanks, Bodie

Re: For the love of the ODYSSEY
Bodie,
Thanks for posting your pics to the Odyssey thread. Yes, Odyssey's are so ridiculously underpriced for the quality it's a laugh! Harder than hen's teeth to find, especially your 25th Anniversary model. Enjoy playing it and use a WIDE strap, they do get kind of heavy after a while!
Not to derail the thread...., but speaking of Hamer guitars - are you a member of the Hamer Fan Club? If not, you should be. I have a 1978 Hamer Sunburst and a 1996 2TEK Cruisebass. Monster quality but yet another undervalued guitar.....
Enjoy!

bondedbybrick - Yes, I'm a member of the Hamer board, I think under my old username of ibanezfan1 (was an Ibanez Fan before the Hamer's ). I have a 90' USA Centaura that is my absolutely favorite guitar in the world, along with a '91 USA Sunburst model. It was sent to a store in '91 and the neck was snapped in shipping at the heel (where it connects to the body). The store had a local luther reset and reattach it and it hasn't moved since. Both are AMAZING guitars.
But the Odyssey is right up there with them without a doubt. Only 250 - I bet they are hard to come by. And I have #3 - I'm stoked!!! Still determined to find another at some point.
Blessings, Bodie

Re: For the love of the ODYSSEY
Hey had my Odyssey (Honey burstish I'd say..? like the one posted by "the dude") for a couple of years now - got it at a real bargain helping out a good friend at his Guitar shop (Couple of working hours+350$)
I'll post some pics when I get back to my recording studio this weekend.
Have a wish though - to someday get my hands on a Black custom or anniversary (or normal (if made in black?) model - so if any of you guys have one for sale please let me know - THANX!
These guitars are SHEER AWESOMENESS. (erhm I mean complete crap!!!)

Re: For the love of the ODYSSEY
I finally got to spend some quality time with my newly acquired Odyssey tonight. She's a little rough around the edges and got some mojo but she plays and sounds great.
She isn't exactly stock either. I'm not sure what kind of pickups these are but they sound pretty good. I think I will keep one in the neck position and load a humbucker in the bridge.
If anyone knows where I could get a proper truss rod cover and a cover plate for the switch cavity please let me know.

That's a mighty sweet Oddy!
Thanks for the ID tip on the pickups. I'll do some research on that.

Re: For the love of the ODYSSEY
Here's a couple shots of my Odyssey with my pickup upgrade. Come to find out I had Gibson P94R's in there originally. I got a set of TimbreTone pickups installed. These pickups RAWK! The humbucker is super hot and the P-90 is simply sweet. I love the tone I've got with these babies.
