Re: Peavey T-60
Your pickups came around late '81 or early '82. I've seen T's from early '82 with the toasters and some from late '81 with blades. I guess which ever style was closest to the work bench got installed until all the toasters were used up.
You'll see a lot of blade pickup T's with the small flat switches as well. The switch change happened somewhere along the same time line. It's tough to pin down an exact date for the changes.
The T-60s were made from 1978 to 1986. I really wish we'd get a reissue one day.

Re: Peavey T-60
I read somewhere that Peavey changed type wood the T's were made from somewhere around 1980. Is this correct? The only complaint I have about the guitar is the weight. It weighs about 9-10lbs while my strat is just under 8lbs. It doesn't seem like much but it does get heavy. Other than that I enjoy playing it. Thanks for your help..

There may have been a wood change, but I'm not sure.

Re: Peavey T-60
Here is my Peavey T-60 with hard shell case. I have done some research and I think it is a 1983 model. I have noticed that some of these had different kinds of switches. Mine does not have the little flat blade switches. Is it possible that somebody changed them? I noticed on a few pictures other T-60 had the same kind of switch that mine has. if it is not factory I would like to change it back if possible. This is my first American Made Guitar. I really love the look of the tone and volume knobs. thinking about trying to find a set for my les Paul and SG.

Re: Peavey T-60
Nope, those switches are correct for late model T-60s. We call those bat handle or bat for short. You'll find the bats on a lot of other mid 80s Peavey guitars as well. The early T's had the flat tip or flat for short. Zeroing in on the change date on the switches is iffy. Much like the transition from toaster to blade pickups. But those switches are correct for a 1983.

Re: Peavey T-60
I was the same way back in the day they were available brand new. I was strictly a Les Paul and Bandit guy. Didn't actually play a T-60 until 2005 when I found my first one for $90 in a pawn shop.

This may have already been posted, but I just watched this for the first time, SRV at Montreux. Some good T-60 playing and tones between about the 23 and 50 minute points in the vid. Enjoy:

Re: Peavey T-60
I'd be interested in an 8M or 6-digit serial number. I've already got a '78 8-digit serial number T in my herd.

"Re felting" Peavey T-60 case
Hey y'all, I just got my very first t-60 last week. Someone sold me 3 guitars for $100 and one was a beat up 1981 t-60. After peeling what must have been the felt from the case off the body, polishing up the metal and replacing both switches and the truss rod cover I threw some strings on and tried it out. I do agree that they are heavy and the neck is thin but the tones and the phase capability are incredible! It became my gigging guitar instantly.
I'd like to bring everything back to it's original form. the guitar is but I need to "re felt" the case somehow. Does anybody have any suggestions?
