I have not done any guitar modification and am thinking over different ideas for my Predator. Can anyone tell me if shaving the top cap off the guitar will have any effect on how the bridge is set up? Will it have to be higher? Or will adjusting the saddles compensate for that?

Yes, shaving will have an affect.
You'll basically have to set it back up from scratch using saddle height, neck angle, intonation, etc.
Once you're familiar with Set Up 101, you move on to Set Up 102, and so on.
Read up on it before you start, and stock up on determination.

OK, thank you for the info. That helps. I've got a Samick that I was planning on messing around with in preparation for the Peavey. We'll see how it goes :)

Nice job, I love it. I just re-did an early-90's Predator myself.
Not as nicely as yours but it still worked out!

It needs a new nut and I wasn't sure what to get. Are they flat-bottomed or
contoured to match the neck radius? Mine is still payable so I didn't want to take
it out to check.

Hi, new to the forum. Just got my 92 Predator USA and I am gathering all the needed bits for the makeover. I see you removed the string tree, mine is a bit tacky and rusty, so I wanted to replace it, but it looks like I can remove it altogether. Also about the Tusq nut, did you use the PT-500, curved fender style with a bit in the middle? Did you flatten the bottom of it or just install as it is?
