Re: THE Peavey LTD Guitar Thread (maybe)
I love these guitars. I had one for about 8 years. I used it on a lot of music I recorded from 2008 - 2012. The songs are all up on soundcloud.
Last year I let it go, because I was after a PRS and can only fit so many guitars in the house. I miss it.
I got it from a seller online. He took really good care of it. It was in like new condition. I kept it that way. I did replace the pickups. He had a set of dual rail pickups out of a G&L in it. They were fine pickups, but I had this set of Seymour Duncan Vintage Live Wires that I wanted to install in a guitar and try out. I loved them in this LTD.

Sparky wrote:Has anyone had neck problems with their LTD? I've got a USA made Peavey Jerry Donahue Omniac (telecaster basically) and the neck has warped and it's not really repairable. Just before buying the JD, I almost pulled the trigger on the 3 single coil limited model, but the seller confided it had an issue where fretboard had warped upward I think, in the upper register.
So I'm looking for a replacement for the JD but I'm worried about the Peavey necks. I also had a USA HP special, and although there was nothing wrong with it, I learned I am not a fan of the basswood + maple + floyd shredder arrangement. Anyone know of issues?
I've owned 3 LTD ST's At the time I acquired my first, I had around 16 electrics including several high end PRS and Hamers. I found myself always picking up my original LTD ST. Alas, one day I picked it up and the action was horrible. I took it to a very accompllished luthier with instructions to "do whatever it takes" to get the guitar playable again. Despite multiple efforts to reverse what turned out to be severe neck warpage, it was impossible to make the guitar playable again. I'm still very bummed about that turn of events. My other two ST's just didn't have the same mojo and I was nervous about what might happen to them so I sold them. Sometimes a guitar comes along that just seems to "fit" you perfectly, I have several very expensive guitars right now but nothing that is as comfortable as that first ST. I've loved every Peavey pickup on every USA Peavey guitar I've owned. Also like the smooth natural necks. The LTD hipshot trem was easy to work with and the lightweight body super comfortable. I have very fond memories of my Limited guitars....

It has both pups are Zebra's It's on display with the matching Peavey USA Flag Strap and Peavey USA Flag Picks. Our whole house is Patriotic, anyway. We have 5 grand kids from almost 3 to 12.
We will be moving between June till August, and I need to sell several things. I need to sell a few of my Peavey Guitars and maybe I have a hundred's of pounds of Guitar Player Magazines from 1970 till 2013. I can only sell by each year. There are two years that a guy wanted and I told him several years ago, I did not want to break them apart. He offered me way to much $$$ but he wanted them. I am still trying to make list of USA Peavey guitars, I have a few more Peavey Guitar amps. I have been giving the Grand kids their Guitar and possibly a Bass. I'll be 66 in March and I still have the dreaded PV Disease. It's when each Peavey thing I buy, is always one short of too many . DOHHHHHH!!!!!PVholic w CS USA LTD VT.jpg
Never seen an LTD with a maple fretboard. That looks fantastic!
Re: THE Peavey LTD Guitar Thread (maybe)
I previously owned a Trans Purple flame top Limited ST, gorgeous guitar that played even better than it looked. I regret selling it a few years ago and have been looking at picking up another one ever since. I recently saw a few that had interested me but hadn't pulled the trigger, but the other day saw one listed online at Guitar Center that caught my attention - a solid black Limited ST (it was listed as a Trans Purple HB for some reason?). It's clearly a USA version with the 3x3 headstock instead of the inline 6 tuners, but I have never seen a Limited without a flame or quilt top before. It's got a Zebra humbucker as well, so it's not a later model either.
Anyone ever see a solid colored, non-flame or quilt top Limited model before? Anyone have a listing of all the models offered over the years, or better yet a listing for serial numbers for each model?

I have never seen a solid colored USA Limited before. I have a blue HB and purple ST both flame. I have see quilted as well but not solid. I keep coming back to these and they are my favorite. The only version I have never owned was the VT.

These were really nice guitars. I was in San Diego a few years ago and one of the stores I used to shop at still has a few NOS. I’ve always regretted not pulling the trigger on one.
