OK, technically not a NGD, after the last addition to the stable was 4 weeks ago.
Really just wanted to post a pride pic.
In order right to left:
Wolfgang CT flame tobacco, standard configuration (basswood+maple, maple)
HP Special CT Custom natural (solid alder top, alder body, maple)
HP Special CT flame cherryburst, standard configuration
HP Special CT Custom metallic light blue (solid basswood, ebony)
HP Special CT Custom quilt rootbeer? chocolate? (basswood+maple, ebony)
HP Special CT Custom quilt orange? lava? (mahogany+maple, maple)
HP Special CT Custom quilt orange? lava? (basswood+maple, rosewood, gold hardware)
Oh, yeah ... and an Ibanez Vai 7UV Universe, and a POS Kramer Striker 300ST.
Not shown: a POS Yamaha SE 620. I mean, it's pink...
The latest addition was the solid alder. I traded an HP Special CT Custom quilt mochaburst in standard configuration for it. I didn't want to let that one go, but with the Wolfgang and the cherryburst HP, it represented the third guitar in the same configuration.

Wow! That's quite an impressive array!
It's like a mini Guitar Center.
Most of us have to hide them all around the house, so the wife doesn't notice them all at once

Oh, yeah. Same with the alder. Same with the solid basswood.supercoupe wrote:do you hear a sonic difference with the mahogany bodied HP?
I mean, we're talking about different hues of basically the same color, but I would say there's a difference.
Now if I can just figure out what difference I want, and WHEN (how to apply it)...
Don't even get me started on fingerboards. What I thought I wanted vs what I actually like vs what I thought was the "best" vs what I like the look of vs what feels one way or the other, or impacts the sound (not so much the "tone" as the "attack" or percussiveness of notes).
I'd really like to find an HP CT with a walnut body, but to my knowledge none were made. at least none that ever passed through Geoff's hands or that I've seen pics of anywhere.
