I ordered a black pick-guard for mine from Peavey not too long ago. Apparently have a bunch of NOS. Think ended up being a little over $20 with shipping. Looks 100x better with the black.

Here's mine before I ended up stripping the paint off and doing a natural finish:

Sweet! I was actually looking at getting one from Pickguard Heaven. They have a LOT of options with colors and materials. But I think I will check with Peavey directly as well!

Finally got around to getting to work on my Fury. Broke it down and cleaned all the shiny parts (tuners & bridge), took off the pickguard and gave the pots and jack a good dose of contact cleaner, restrung it with some Ernie Ball Regular Slinky strings (roundwounds 50 - 70 - 80 - 105), adjusted the pup, set the relief (was a little too straight), and set the intonation.

Plays and sounds AWESOME!! It would KILL any MIA Fender P out there!!

Still considering a new pickguard for it. Maybe a three-ply black / white / black.

Awesome bass!

Hi,

I just bought a used 94 Fury. I want to get new strings but am unsure on the scale length. I am pretty sure long scale is what I want.

Am I right?

The Fury basses all have 34" scales.

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread for my first post, but it came up in a Google search and I wanted to register to thank the original posters.

I have a 1992 Peavey Fury just like the black one in the photo, except that it's red with a white pickguard. I got it when I was 16 and I'm now 38. I had a custom Ken Smith bridge installed on it and then proceeded to cover it with stickers. Well, I've recently rediscovered the bass after many years of not playing and have been playing with some friends (Ibanez SR300, which is an amazing bass guitar for the price) and I decided I wanted to spruce up my old Fury.

Sure enough, Peavey had some pickguards in stock for that bass. One black pickguard and a volume knob: $23 shipped (no additional shipping charges).

The person who helped me both via email and over the phone was ridiculously helpful. I haven't experienced customer service like that in... I don't even know!

Anyway, I'm pleased as punch. Thanks to the posters in this thread for helping to convince me to resurrect an old friend. Take care and have fun!

Hey! Stelles75, I would love to know how you got the pickguard! Also, I'm gonna strip the red paint on this old sucker. I'm guessing that a heat gun might be the best solution. I bought mine back in 92 as well. I'm 36 now. Again, just rediscovered the bass and really wanna polish it up. Just bought on ebay a new black solid bridge, black tuning pegs and black knobs. Still need to find a suitable pickguard and would love to put some 62 p bass pickups in this sucker (since mine are so beat up).

Have you done any more modding to it other than the pickguard?
I also want to remove the laquar (spelling?) on the neck and maybe do a new job on it..or leave it the raw wood...
I wanted to redo the fret bars as well, but i don't have the tools for that kinda job.
