Old T40 wiring is it the pickups that enable the split coil or the electronics ?
So I would like to build a guitar with a wiring scheme similar to the old Peavey T40's where rolling off the knob enables humbucker mode. I have a ton of them, they are just to damn heavy to play live and I can not bring myself to bastardize one, so I am building new. Is it a function of the pickup or is it the electronics that enable the humbucker - single coil switching ?

It's the wiring. Seymour Duncan use a similar method called "Spin a Split "

With the T-40 pickups it's the red wire that's the "Tap"
