I'm looking to build or buy a speaker cab for my classic 30 combo amp. This will be used solely inside an isolation box for recording (overheating the amp is a problem in an insulated box). I already know about the 16 ohm internal speaker and 8 ohm external wattage thing. I plug a blank TS jack in the external speaker jack and it works great for amp-only applications. But lets not get sidetracked on that. I will be disconnecting the internal speaker when recording anyway.
However, I have absolutely no experience with speaker cabs. I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to recommend a cab, or speaker (if I opt build my own box). My studio clientele seem to be mostly classic rock, blues, folk and country oriented. I an looking for a speaker that will give me good tone for those genres. I know its kind of subjective, but I have to start somewhere, right? lol. I'd be really interested to hear from some people with direct experience.
Thanks in advance!

Re: suitable speaker for classic 30 external cab
It is absolutely subjective. What is a suitable date for dinner and a movie? What is a suitable sandwich for lunch? Closer to home, you want to have one guitar in your studio, should it be a Strat? A Tele? A Les Paul? A Jackson? Whatever choice you make, someone will love it, someone will hate it.
