Peavey SP1 woofers?
A friend has a pair of Woofers he said came from a pair of SP1 cabinets. these are square magnet 15 inch woofers one had a round Peavey sticker in the middle of the back plat the other not. The only code on them is also on the back plate one is SP1 67-7923 the other is SP1 67-7915. I find this odd as they look to be the same driver but have different id numbers. Does anybody recognize these stamped steel basket Peavey drivers. I don't doubt they came out of a pair of SP1's but I would like to know what they are if I am going to buy them? thanks for any assistance. Best regards Moray James.
Re: Peavey SP1 woofers?
sp1 speakers had the square mags and are the 1504 the horn loading makes them 8 ohms and only take 100 watts

Before the Black Widow was introduced. SP-1 (with the FH-1 bottom) had a black 4 Ohm 15 inch Eminence.

Re: Peavey SP1 woofers?
Thanks guys these could well be Eminence as they were built in 1979 strange that they do not have a part number on them. Best regards Moray James.
does anybody have the T/S data on the original Eminence driver???

the 67 number indicates eminence as manufacturer

Re: Peavey SP1 woofers?
I just got a second pair of CH-1 horns in the mail today. They are in really nice condition. The seams of the two halves of the horn are split at the outside edges of the mouth on both horns. If I can find out what the base plastic of these horns is I could solvent weld them back together. Does anybody know what the base plastic of these horns is??? Thanks and best regards Moray James.
I just realized that the two halves of the horn are only held together by the screws. I had mistakenly assumed that the screws were used as temporary clamps and that the halves were solvent welded or glued together and that is not the case. Live and learn. This makes repainting the horns a much easier job

Re: Peavey SP1 woofers?
If memory serves me correctly, the other four digits indicate the year, and the week of manufacture, so I'd say it's a safe bet that they're original equipment.thunda wrote:the 67 number indicates eminence as manufacturer

Re: Peavey SP1 woofers?
thank you for the information Noyym I suspect that you are correct. I will replace the dried out electrolytic caps in the crossovers and they should sound better than new. Best regards Moray James.
Re: Peavey SP1 woofers?
anyone know where to find the specs for an older 1504 black widow?
think they may be for the SP1 or SP2 (are 4ohms each) but one reads 3ohms on meter and the other shows 2.7ohms!
not sure if they can be run sealed for bass? am pondering trying these sealed in an old kustom (with port slots blocked-they are oval shaped and about 2" x 4"
total internal volume is about 7cf
also wonder how they would react in this empty peavey 215D cab i have instead of the stock 1502's <i speculate they were> (don't have anymore)
(would probably use stock porting)
anyone's help appreciated!
