SP4 Problem

Post by Robertmason » Sat Apr 23, 2016 9:25 pm

I have two SP4 Speakers that won't let the mids play very loud . 90 percent of the sound comes through the horn and is way louder than what little mids are there . i pulled the crossovers out and discovered that both fuses were blown so i got new ones put them in and there wasn't any change in sound . so i don't know what the problem is , so i'm looking for some help.

You may have toasted the woofer. The tom 15 usually goes first as it goes two octaves higher than the bottom woofer. Take out the woofers and remove the magnets to see if thea coils hvw been damaged. If bad, you can order replacement baskets.

How old are they? Should they have 1/4 inch bi amp high/low input jacks run a plug in/out several times to see if they are dirty. I've seen dirty ones drop the woofers volume before.
