RX22 diaphragm kit into an old 22A magnet?

Post by colliedogboy1 » Sat Apr 30, 2016 9:43 pm

I think I asked this question long, long ago, but I was never crystal clear on the answer. Can I put an RX22/22XT diaphragm kit into my old 22A drivers, or will I have to buy an entire RX22 or 22XT driver and screw it into the old magnet? Or will any of this work at all? Am I stuck with the old 1980s 22A drivers in my old SP2 speakers? They just sound harsh, and I have the impression that the 22XT or the RX22 drivers either one would make my old horns sound better. If I could sweeten them up a bit for $100 or less, I would like to do that. What is my best course here?
Thanks.

If your in the US I would just call Peavey on their toll free # for that info and you could also just order what you need to buy from them too.

You just need the proper replacement diaphragm kit. Which would not be the RX 22 for technical issues involving the new radius, the closer distance to the phasing plug (of the correct radius), and the suspension.

There is a generic replacement for all prior models to the RX, but I forget the # and am too lazy to look for you.

Thank you both. I will call Peavey Monday and ask them. This question just popped back into my mind early Saturday morning as I was returning some of my gear to my storage building from a Friday gig.
