Hi,
I've been using a set of dth tops (dth1) for the past few years. This particular box uses a 44t and a VHF array for highs. After looking at other speakers that feature the 44t, none also use the VHF array. I'm just wondering why the speaker designers decided to drop the VHF on later DTH models that use a 44t.
Also Does the internal crossover between the 44t and the VHF array have any effect on the CD horn eq on the vsx26?
I'm considering running straight from the NL4 to the 44t, bypassing the internal crossover and VHF array.
J~

44t and the VHF array
Re: 44t and the VHF array
The DTH 1's (in the link you posted) have a 44T horn (high's) + 2-10" Scorpions (midrange). (I don't know what you mean by "VHF array"). DTH 1's are very formidable "Tops" made in the early 1990's and were intended to be used along with their companion dual 15" Peavey DTH Sub's. (Modern sub's that can handle a crossover frequency of 250 Hz will probably work just fine with them.)
These DTH Sub's aren't listed in the Peavey Archives, but Aubrey recently sent me the followings spec's:
The DTH SUB was offered in 1994 for $599.99.
Impedance - 4 ohms
Power handling - 700 watts continuous and 1400 watts Program.
Has two 1505-8 KADT speakers.
Frequency Response - 45Hz to 3KHz
Sensitivity - 99dB SPL @! watt / 1 meter
Weight - 127 lbs.
Suggested crossover frequency with DTH-1 - 250 Hz
Hope this helps. Congratulations for keeping those heavy weights alive and in service!

Re: 44t and the VHF array
Hi Natresse,
Thanks for the reply. The VHF array, I assume stands for Very High Frequency, and is a 4 element array of what looks to be Motorola peizo tweeters. The manual says it crosses over internally at 10,000 hz. Here's a picture. Mine are still in the box, but may be coming out.
