looking to buy project one sets

Post by boneheado supreme » Sun May 07, 2017 4:03 pm

I am looking to buy some project one cabs (CH-4C, MB1 and FH2) and I am not able to find anything .... anywhere. We currently have 2 complete sets and want to expand that to more complete sets :D

I am in the Toronto area but willing to travel to pick up (perhaps delivery if the price is right) up to 1500 km (give or take)

If anyone here knows of sets for sale please let me know!!!

I always thought a wall of the old Project 1 systems would look cool as the back wall on a techno/edm stage. Of course, I would leave them powered off and never ever move them. :D

I do appreciate the leads on the project 2 stuff, but I am really looking for project one to build on an existing kit. And moveing them really isn't that onerous, you just need to plan well.

And why leave em powered down? You can do the same sound as a good line array setup with half the power draw. It makes them great for medium to large venues with restricted power supply

I would leave them powered down because they look a heck of a lot better than they ever sounded. And no, that setup would not even keep up with my PRX rig, even less a "good" line array. But, hey, your money, your rig. Good luck and post pics of it when you get it running. I used to do shows with two Project 1 stacks per side and a truck load of CS400s and CS800s back stage. My back does not miss those days!!

What dedmeet said. Hell, I had to call my chiropractor after just reading this thread. :D I spent three years lugging four stacks of Project One stacks and amps around dance halls and street dances in Texas. That was 30 years ago and in the sound/output/price category, they couldn't be beat.

But today? About 1/3rd the weight gets you higher quality sound and even greater output. No chiropractor or ibuprofen needed.

Don't believe me. I'm just guessing.

We get plenty of good sound ...... the moving is also not an issue. I lift the fh2s myself to stack them vertically for storage. The mb1s are very nice when you put 2202s in them, and the fh2s when you fill em with 1505 widows. No trussing, no rigging and far less power needed. To each their own ... but curiously hard to find, especially when apparently so many dislike them!

Look, I appreciate the opinions shared on the thread. However I am looking for something specific and would rather have help and leads than to hear about how people don't like what I am looking to pay cash for .... so fellas, a bit of help here.

It's not that I dislike them; heck quite the opposite. Used to like the Project Series and the 3020HT with its ginormous 4x15 sub cab. I hope you find what you are looking for and enjoy it immensely. Seriously, I want to see pics of your wall of these things, if only for sentimental nonsense on my part. Curiously, the mid-bass boxes still pop up in my part of the world from time to time, but whole systems seem to have mostly been converted to firewood long ago.

Just don't try to fool yourself or us into thinking that it will any way be more power efficient and sound anywhere near as good as currently available offerings that are lighter, smaller, louder, and sip power compared to a giant tri-amp rig from three decades ago.

If only I could upload. I have a pic from a charity event we used 2 sub 600 clones 2 jbl w bins 2 fh2 2 mb1 and 2 ch4c per side. Outdoor venu3 with mix of announcer, recorded music plus live sound. Clear, loud and great coverage. Audible and clear from 1000 plus meters. Audible and distinguishable at 2500 and audible 3000 plus with the female announcer speaking.

Honestly the mb1 mid bass is the hardest to get a hold of. The bins are fairly easy to clone.
