pv112 tweeter issues
pv112 tweeter issues
Hi im nick long time reader 1st time posting. I brought a second hand gps 2600 and I'm now using it to power my 2x pv112 tops and 2x pv118 subwoofers. I've only used the amp twice. last night at a gig around 3 hours in my tweeters started making a weird whistling noise bit like a kettle not all the time tho just every so often but it did get more frequent as time went on. now the tweeter sounded exactly the same the whole time apart from the noise. my question is have I blown the tweeters or maybe the crossover inside??
Re: pv112 tweeter issues
What are you using for a source? (Mixer.....for a band or dj'ing......mp3 player......computer.....details, details, details.)
Usually the horns will work or they won't. A noise like you're describing points to something further up the line, from the input source to the mixer to the power amp to the crossover.

Re: pv112 tweeter issues
I was using a pioneer djm 850 2 x cdj 2000 nexus. plus we was also using a kam pro 4000 running 2 x peavey 15 tops they did not suffer with the issue like the 12inch tops did. that's why I'm thinking it's an internal/ tweeter problem. possibly the amp maybe??
Re: pv112 tweeter issues
OK. Well that would be the first step: trying a different power amp. As I said, high frequency drivers usually work just fine or don't work at all so my first guess would be that the speakers are fine.
