Compatibility of PV215 with XR1212 ?

Post by co23eb » Sun Jun 25, 2017 9:26 am

I am planning to buy 2 piece PV215 with power mixer XR1212. Please suggest me whether these are good match with each other or not? My hall room normally takes 250 to 300 people where I shall use the system. Will this system be enough for such crowed to play live or recorded music.

XR1212 has two amps @ 600 watts each
PV215 is rated @ 700 watts
The compatibility is fine, it depends on what size hall, what kind of music, ect.
If your playing live rock you may not be loud enough.

It has to be noted that you will NOT be able to power monitors at the same time with this system. The XR1212 is only rated at four ohms per power amp. Plug a PV215 in right and a PV215 into left. If you want monitors you will have to get another power amp or use powered monitors.

Is there any option of Power Mixer in Peavey which can also power monitors beside the main speakers?

Any of the XR series will power both mains and monitors, but not if you're using 4 ohm cabinets like the PV215.

In that case what could be a better option for speakers with xr1212 if I want to use main speakers and monitors both from the same power mixer.

Any 8 ohm speakers and monitors will work.
You could go with two PV115's for mains and two PV15M's for monitors. The PVx15's are also good sounding mains if you want just a little bit lighter cabinet.

In case of 2 pv 115 with 2 pv 15M the volume of sound will reduce for the main audience. So, do you suggest me to go for powered monitor keeping my initial plan of using pv215 ?

The audience volume really won't decrease much at all as there is only a 3dB difference in sensitivity. If anything, it will be improved since you'll be able to put the PV115's on stands and get them up to the proper height, something you can't do with the PV215's. The 215's have just barely more low end, but you would be better off getting powered sups (PVxP Sube comes to mind) to use with the PV115's.
