Peavey 15" BWX 1508-8

Hi to everyone, I just bought this bass speaker and says 8 ohm on the speaker but when I measure with the multimeter says 5.8 ohm, does anyone know about this, Peavey help

I'm guessing your measuring this with an ohm meter? What your seeing is the DCR or Direct Current Resistance. This is not the true overall reading the amp sees when "music" is played through the box. As an example look at page 3 of the link I added. You can see how the impedance varies with frequency. The overall "nominal" or averaged impedance is 8 ohms but it varies from 5.4 in the high frequency range to what looks like 65 ohms around 2.5k or so.

Seeing 5.8 is around average for a 8 ohm listed speaker. A 4 ohm speaker would run around 2.5 up.

Thanks Doug, so I guess they should write on the speaker DCR instead ohm, but anyway is not a big deal, I guess I have nothing to worry about. Thanks

Peavey the best on audio equipment...!.!.!.!.!.!
