PV2000 / 2XT / 118XT
Re: PV2000 / 2XT / 118XT
No it doesn't, but do those cabs actually need it?.

All Peavey two-way enclosures with any of the model 22 and 44 compression drivers need CD Horn EQ. That is why I sent you the link. If you want a real HONKER that is +10 to +12 dB louder than the woofer from the X-Over point out to 3 - 4 kHz and down -12 dB at 16 kHz, then get the cheap ass X-Over without it.
Why do you think I sent you the link? Or did you even read the paper?

If he is bi-amping can you not plug the tops in the full range input and use the built in CD EQ?

Re: PV2000 / 2XT / 118XT
Well Mr. Magoo, you are correct he can do that with model and some others, but not the newer ones that have the Neutrik Speakon connection that switches out the internal X-Over. But it is not the best way, as you eat up a lot of headroom in the amp and with that much power can over power the High Pass portion of the passive X-Over.
Re: PV2000 / 2XT / 118XT
Yes Marty, I did read it. But as it states in the link " If this is the case the needed equalization can still be obtained by plugging the hi pass signal into the full range input instead of the bi-amp hi input because the passive xover will do it for you". From what I gather the OP wants to go passive stereo tops and mono subs. That's why I stated, do the cabs actually need it. He very well may post back and state he wants to go mono 3 way. Who knows.
Re: PV2000 / 2XT / 118XT
Hi Marty, I am not separating the speaker and horn in the top cab signals, I believe the passive circuit inside the 2XT top cab takes care of all this.

Yeah this was my plan, thanksmrmagoo wrote:If he is bi-amping can you not plug the tops in the full range input and use the built in CD EQ?
Marty - I had not really considered going three way as you suggest, would that not require 3 amps to be used?
Re: PV2000 / 2XT / 118XT
Yes, you would need another amp if going stereo for your tops, 3 amps altogether. I forgot to ask, on your info sticker, is there a sensitivity rating? These speaker systems seem to matched so I'm thinking the tops and subs are rated the same, which is good. I only found one PV 2000, 700w a side at 4ohms and weighs 55lbs. IMHO a decent upgrade would be 2 IPR 1600/2000's rated at 500w a side at 4 ohms and they weigh 7lbs per. They have xovers in them but not variable @ 100hz. Also, Marty did state and I agree that if you went for a higher wattage amp and just connecting one amp and using the hi pass out on the subs that passive xover might not be able to handle it. The PV 2000 is a perfect match for that system using one amp for the continuous rating of those speakers although it weighs a ton.
Re: PV2000 / 2XT / 118XT
Please help me the correct cross over setting for my systems:
Tops: 2 x SP 2XT, Sub: 2 x 118 XT, Crossover: Peavey VSX bi-amp way stereo/ Tri-amp mono,
Power Amps: 2 x GPS 3400 one for top and one for driving the subs.
Thank you.
