The rating on the ipR 5000 is 2525 watts at 2 ohms per side what is it at 2.67 ohms?
I'm doing an outdoor party and would to have more power, running a 4 ohm speaker and an 8 ohm
but with the 4 ohm getting 2/3 of the power I want to make sure I don't max it out!
Wondering what the formula is for figuring this?
thanks!
Ipr 5000 amp at 2.67 ohms?
Re: Ipr 5000 amp at 2.67 ohms?
Why not just call it 2 ohms and do your figuring from that. The actual might be a bit lower than that, but so what - safety margin.
Re: Ipr 5000 amp at 2.67 ohms?
Consider that the 4 ohm spec of the speaker is only for some specific frequency. Look at the impedance curve for the speaker and you will see it will be higher (possibly lower) across much of it's range, so the power the speaker will see is dependent on the frequency content of the source material.

That holds for all speakers and all amps. Amp ratings are based on the nominal impedance of the load.
