So as a band we have an old Peavey XR 600C amp
Its given sterling service over the years and mainly used as a practice PA
However we have a gig coming up and need to press it into service!
We have 2 x Peavey speakers hooked up to the outputs on the back
1 x Yamaha powered monitor on the monitor output
But can we hook in a mixing desk?
Do we need anything special? Does it just plug into the graphic input? Can we control volumes?
Probably simple answers but looking through the very vague manual I can't get my head around it!
Cheers for any help
Peavey XR600c Graphic Input
Re: Peavey XR600c Graphic Input
If you plug into the graphic in, it breaks the circuit from the mixing panel. In other words it just goes straight into the graphic and power amp.
If you want the XR600c as the main mixer and have a secondary mixer, run the secondary mixer signal into the AUX input - lower right corner of the XR600. Then the Tape/Aux level control upper right corner controls the overall level from the external mixer. Meanwhile all the regular functions of the XR600c continue.
If you prefer to use an external mixer as the main mix - say it is a 16 channel or 24 channel or something - you can plug the output of that mixer into the graphic input as you were thinking. Then to continue using the XR600 mixer section, run a cord from the XR600 MAIN OUT jack to some aux return on the main mixer, or even one unused input channel. Or an FX return. Then you can use the XR600 as a sub mixer - say for the drum mics or maybe just the vocals. And that return channel on the main mixer acts as a sub control for those.
