Peavey 32FX mixer board issue
Re: Peavey 32FX mixer board issue
Another update! Picked up the board and will be using it for tonight's service, hopefully everything will be working fine.
The service tech said that there was a resistor in the board with the wrong value installed, he had to replace that with the right value....we'll see what happens tonight and in the coming weeks.

Re: Peavey 32FX mixer board issue
I usually do not do the "harbinger of doom" thing, but a resistor that was incorrect? Hmm. Not doubting the tech, but I find that interesting. I am sure Peavey Engineering would like to know which one it was.
I would have a backup plan ready....but that's just me.
Best of luck and please let us know how it goes.

I know what you are saying. We'll see what happens. The service tech had mentioned something about the crystal clock also and then told me about the wrong value resistor in the circuit board. He has tested the board for two days and didn't find any issues after the resistor change out.
I'll be testing it tonight, Saturday and Sunday...will post an update next week or this week, if anything else happens.
Thanks.

Re: Peavey 32FX mixer board issue
Just an update! We used the board on that Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday (two services) and had no problems. For the past 2 weeks we haven't had services due to the winter weather. Hoepfully be back this Sunday and see how things work out.

Re: Peavey 32FX mixer board issue
retho,
After some more inquisitiveness on my part, your Peavey tech had it right....the resistor that was "incorrect" was in fact the one that was supposed to be replaced to fix that problem. So, "incorrect" well yeah...but it was the correct one originally installed and then in need of replacement.
So, hopefully you are good to go and all will continue to shine.
Cheers.

Re: Peavey 32FX mixer board issue
Thanks Steve. Also, the service tech I took the board too has very good experience in pro audio stuff.
Re: Peavey 32FX mixer board issue
I forgot to mention this in my previous post...I have also notice the mains sounding a little more louder after the fix. The reason I'm saying this is I had to lower the individual channels a little bit from where it used to be before.
Thanks
Thanks

Is it possible to have more précisions on this resistor ? I have the samedi issue with my Mixer 24FX, then if anyone know which one resistor should be replaced, and the value of the good one to put instead of it, thanks to provide the information !

Christian
Re: Peavey 32FX mixer board issue
Don't worry about the resistor, that was an early, suspected issue. The actual problem was fixed later by altering the on/off mute circuit.

Hello Jim,jim h wrote:Don't worry about the resistor, that was an early, suspected issue. The actual problem was fixed later by altering the on/off mute circuit.
What do you mean by "altering the on/off mute circuit"?
May I solve the issue by my-self by making any operation on my mixer or shall send it to a repair center ? (I'm in France, and it is quite difficult find a repair center with peavey agreement...)
Thanks in advance for your help.
Re: Peavey 32FX mixer board issue
I will email you the instructions.
Re: Peavey 32FX mixer board issue
Many thanks Jim !
I will try your fix as soon as possible.
Does any 47uF/35V (for instance http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/47f-35v-105c- ... itor-n82kf) and any 100k ohm resistor work, or shall I found exactly the ones you mentionned (Peavey P/N 30200126 and 30320344).
