Any1 able to give comparison info?
Bidding on Ebay for a XR 8300 & considering bidding on the Mackie as well.
Intended use is as FOH sound re-enforcement for "garage band" gigs & practices ie. mikes, guitar, bass, piano/syth/organ (specifically, a Wurlitzer 44 & Hammond C3 & possibly a Casio piano/synth/organ). Driving into some BW & Scorp & Sheffield 15" cabs.
I know the XR is 300 watts/channel & the 808S is 600 watts/channel.
I have looked up the specs for both.
BTW - where to find manual for XR 8300 on Peavey.com, not finding as of yet.
TIA for any & all replies,
troy
Peavey XR 8300 VS Mackie 808S FR Series Powered Mixer
Re: Peavey XR 8300 VS Mackie 808S FR Series Powered Mixer
Just remember, the Mackie can only do 600 Watts if you load it at 2 ohms...and if I remember right, it thermals out pretty quickly that way.
Please see the attached XR8300 owner's manual.

Re: Peavey XR 8300 VS Mackie 808S FR Series Powered Mixer
I know I'm prejudiced.....but as a dealer that has sold both Mackie and Peavey, go with the Peavey. The power amp section is much more reliable, particularly on the 8300 which is good 'ol iron based and not 1's and 0's based (digital).
