Marty! QW mon. presets!

Post by JGLAS » Sat Feb 20, 2010 11:44 pm

Marty,

The QW monitor music playback preset you made is absolutely, undeniably the most reverent touch of perfection I've ever heard. I'm not kiddin man, it sounds so good and pristine and so full. I seriously haven't the words to tell you how grateful I am for that personal help that you gave. I wanted to say this on the forum to express my gratitude openly. It's not to often these days that men with such wisdom, experience, and knowledge will openly share.

I was seriously emotional when I heard those enclosures open up like that. You represented Peavey extremely well Marty, and once again thank you so very much. Also all of you other guys who always share and help, thank you too. A shout out to Semperfisound, thanks for the advice.

Jason,
You are welcome. Now I got to get me some of those QW monitors to have the same religious experience you had. And Marty's preset, of course.

Did he hang it on the web?

Cheers,
Steve

Was it for bi-amp or full range.

It was a bi-amp preset for program music playback only. It essentially has +7 dB of boost at 60 Hz with a Low Shelving filter function and +7 dB of boost at 15 kHz with a PEQ BW of 0.4. That is from memory, but it is close.

This preset would not be right for an actual live stage monitor.

Okay - so much for my religious experience...

Seriously, I just went peeking and there are 3 QW Mon presets for the -48 on the web.....and one for the -26.

Is there some verbiage to go with these for applications?

Thanks,
Steve

Fellas,

I wanted to get back to this a little sooner, but sometimes life comes at you fast. Both presets sound much better than the old qwmon. preset I used for so long. The one designed for live use even sounds great when just jamming tunes. Once again thanks Marty, I'm very happy. If anyone wants the music playback preset leave an e-mail address and I'll forward it. It really sounds wonderful.

Later,

Jason

The orignal QW-M preset was not as good as it could have been. It was an over sight, but the3 X-Over point was a bit low.

I can't attach the preset files here, but if any one wants, them shoot me an e-mail.

I did not even consider there would be monitor presets for the VSX.

this gives me even more reason when i get a crossover it will be a VSX.

which one is better the 48 or the 26?
or is it more of depending on application?
for me it would be used as a mono tri amp FoH
Bi amp for the drummers monitor system
and possible for biamping front monitors

be awhile till i do purchase the FoH system
barring a major record deal LOL
so it will be awhile.

I'd say it depends on your application. For my mains (3 way QW2/QW118) I use the VSX26. For my monitors I use the VSX48 because it allows me to go in with 4 mixes. I split it out generally to 4 monitors (which means I could get by without the VSX48) but there are those drummers who insist on a small sub along with their top box. The VSX allows me to cross over the sub and send the same mix to both the sub and the topbox for the drummer.

Don't believe me. I'm just guessing.

To Fellow Peavey Users,
On small venues, I used two QW2 in bi-amp mode using the QW2 preset. I use this set up (mostly) for music playback.
I am curious if this new QWMon preset can also be used for the QW2. If this preset is also good for the QW2, please send me the preset. My email address:[email protected].

Thank you.

The QW-M preset would NOT be appropriate for a QW-2. They are different Horns with different lengths and thus acoustic centers. PEQ and Delay settings would be different as well.

Hi Marty,
I have just purchased a used, but in good condition, pair of QW Monitors. They sound awesome in full range, but I would be curious to hear what its like with the music playback preset. Could you please send me the preset for "music playback"? My new email address:[email protected].
Thank you.

I know this is a old thread but would anyone have the most current QWM/VR218 playback bi-amp presets and Live Version? Thank you

Hello Sir ; I think no one answered your post because it's confusing. The qw monitor preset is different than the qw 2 preset. Just questing , but you've probably not got qwm (monitor) tops . I hope you've found the presets you needed. Good Day
