How to get started with the vsx-26

Hi, I'm a new comer to the forum. I have a question regarding the use of the vsx-26. I need to know how to set up the vsx-26 to run 2 QW4s and 2 SP4s in bi-amp modes. I also have 1 QW218, 2 QW118s, 1 CS800X, 1 CS4080, 2 CC4000s, 2 Behringer EP4000s, 1 Kosmos (Blue model), 1 VSX-26 (Blue model). I have downloaded the presets and entered them in the vsx-26 and updated the firmware to the 1.0.6. How do I proceed to have 2 presets loaded in the vsx-26 running at the same time? It looks like when I load 1 preset and then go to load another, the 1st preset gets knocked out. And another question, when a preset is loaded, is it like 'load and play' or do I have to do further adjustments? I really have no clue as to how to get up and running. Before, I was running eq to kosmos to crossover to amps.
Thanks.

The short answer is that it really isn't designed to run two pre-sets at once. It could probably be done by entering the second pre-set manually, but it would be a bit of a pain.

The second part of the short answer is that unless you are doing some good arraying or using one set for a completely seperate area, you are doing a bit of a disservice to the listener by mixing the SP and QW series cabinets.

Addressing your issue:
The VSX-26 has two inputs and 6 configureable outputs.

Pick what you want to go where and make the configurations match what you are driving.
You can use an output for a QW sub, and output for Full Range in a QW top, etc. Depends on what area you want to cover with what cabinet, but you only have 6 outputs and they are designed for one type of driver. If you wanted top cabs to run Full Range, I suppose they could be split from the same flat feed, but then, why bi-amp?

However: my esteemed colleague from Nebraska is correct: mixing cabinets that are covering the same area is not the way to do business.

If they are covering different areas, you will need another VSX-26 or a VSX-48.
Cheers,
Steve

Thank you for your info. I need to run all 7 cabs on the back of a flat bed truck for a parade on the 4th of July. At this point in time, I guess running the tops in full range would be my best option.
Thanks.

Holy shamolee! Where are you from? I want to attend this parade!

You could run it with both systems if you were to do it in stereo mode. The catch is that you wouldn't be able to simply load the presets from the Peavey websites and plug them in automatically.

Basically you would manually enter the presets and run the VSX in stereo mode. Example:

VSX Left in would be the QW218/QW4 preset
1 out = subs
2 out = mids
3 out = highs

VSX Right in would be the QW218/SP4 preset
4 out = subs
5 out = mids
6 out = highs

The catch is that you would have to really know what you're doing and I wouldn't recommend this as your first exercise with the VSX.

Location: St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Parade is to be on St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands for their 4th of July celebrations.
Thanks.

Now you're really talking!!! I think if I worked it right I could even write it off on my taxes as a business trip. Can you re-schedule the 4th of July to be in the middle of February, the time of year it is cold and miserable here at home? :D

Good luck as you try and set this up and if you have any questions, the folks on the board here will be as helpful as they can be.

Note: You could still use the VSX to some extent and pretty simply as a two-way crossover (subs and mains) and as a convenient way to route the signals to the various amplifier/speaker combos.
