orginal Peavey PV microphones

Post by Dad Roadie » Wed Jan 13, 2016 7:41 pm

Hi to all,
Recently picked up one of these reasonably off the web. (see photo). The microphone really sounds good. Hoping to use it for other things besides vocals. The only thing it says is Peavey PV and made in the USA. Would anyone happen to know the pattern and the frequency response. Is it a decent mic or is it just wishful thinking. I have one of the old white Peavey Mics (I believe its a PBH?) that just keeps going and going. My hope would be that it would act as a budget SM57 untill some more funds come along. Any information or suggestions for use would really be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

That looks like an '80's version of the PV microphone. I don't see any info on that mic.

I would say use it as you like every microphone will respond differently.

I have SM 57 microphones. To be honest never a first choice for me. I like the PVM45, 45i, and 45ir better. And each of those have a bit different character.

My recommendation is to use and enjoy what you have. Watch the net for a cheap PVM45 series mic and get that. Forget the 57.
