Peavey PVR1 microphone help

Post by Dad Roadie » Fri Nov 25, 2016 7:48 pm

Hi to all,
Does anyone have an ideal how to remove the grille from a Peavey PVR-1 microphone?
I picked up one of these off Ebay.
Unfortunately I believe the seller who was upset (he let me know that!) that no one bid higher on the mic might have caused some damage before he shipped it.
It was packed really well so it didn't happen in shipping.
One attached photo (taken from the listing ) showed no damage to the grille.
Take a look at the photo of the unit received.
The seller didn't offer returns so I was kind of stuck.
He never replied so I gave up.
I was able to sell the case to recoup some of my money back
The only saving point is the the microphone still works!
Thank goodness Peavey built these like a rock!
I have another one that I have had for some time.
I always wanted a second one for a overhead pair.
My concern is when looking into the good grille (the one I have had for a while) I can see the light though the grille .
On the Ebay unit (with the damaged grille) no light can be seen through the center part (where in dented in part is) when doing the above.
I'm not sure how far the element is located down into the cartridge.
I'm worried the the grille might be touching the element and not allowing it to work correctly.
Has anyone ever had one apart?
If the element is down in the housing I would tend to leave it alone.
It sounds very similar to my other PVR-1.
Any help would really be appreciated
Dad Roadie!

Get yourself a small wind screen and cover it. Buy 2 so they both sound the same. Something like these. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/2626751491 ... noapp=true
