daw midi vyper

Post by Moe Kowbell » Thu Mar 16, 2017 1:18 pm

I currently use an external guitar FX processor for realtime program changes via MIDI, thru my Cakewalk DAW. Lately, I’ve considered automating FX changes to my Vyper VIP3, in the same way. Is there anyone who subscribes to this forum who has already accomplished that? I’d like to know how to switch between different Vyper presets by communicating those changes via Cakewalk. I’m not interested in using hands, feet or a Sanpera pedal. I’d like to automate, just like I’ve already done with the FX processor. Any help is appreciated.

Should be straight forward sending MIDI events. Just define your Vypyr as a MIDI device in preferences. THe Vypyr will need to be powered on and attached when you start the DAW.

Do I need an .ins file inserted beforehand or should I expect the routings to be "found" upon proper connection? Thank you for your responses.

You may have to load the viper drivers to your computer if you have any and Sonar will find them. It will likely give you a pop up window like the interface one asking you if you want to use the Peavey Vipor as a midi source and click yes and it will be synced up. You should be able to go topreferences and see the Vyper show upin the devices section under friends.
