Does the Vypyr Pro have the same exact amp profiles as the Vip 2??
The Pro caught my attention a while back, yet the sweetwater demo turned me off a bit.
In the demo, 4 different amps were selected and then made in to one. The amps selected
had very little difference if any. This reminds me of the Boss amp selections (GT 10 / Katana)
requiring more imagination instead of a more realistic amp tones itself.

I was not totally satisfied with the Katana, and tried the Vip 2. I could not believe how
awesome the Vip 2 sounded. I wish Peavey amps would have been included in that demo.
Or, is the sound of the Peavey amps different from the Vip 2 to the Pro?
Thanks for replies.
Vypyr Pro / Vip 2
Re: Vypyr Pro / Vip 2
The technology of the VIP and the Pro are basically the same, but obviously, the Vypyr Pro has a lot more options.
The Vypyr Pro has all the amps from the VIP2, plus a ton more!
If you have the cash, go for the Pro. You won't regret it!

Re: Vypyr Pro / Vip 2
For one hundered dollars more I would go for the VIP 3. 100 watts, power sponge and you can use all the presets (416) from the control panel instead of 16. Also I agree with Fastwind on the Pro.

Re: Vypyr Pro / Vip 2
Thank you wmjones and Fastwind for your responses.
My local GC only had the Vip 2 in stock to play. I paid $179.99 new out the door for it.
Sweetwater is a great company to do business with, I just prejudge the Pro off that demo.
My fault for prejudging it.
I agree with both of you to make the upgrade.
Forgive me for being a bit of a pest, have you played both Vip 2 and the Pro? I do not
want to sound like a jerk about this, yet I have never heard anything sound this good (Vip 2)
at under $200.00. I would be so let down if the Pro did not sound the same with the Peavey
amp selections.
I live in Arizona. This coming Tuesday is going to be around 120 degrees outside.
For me, playing tube amps for the next 6 months or so is not happening. Its like sitting
in front of a space heater. LOL
So to find this gem of an amp, (Vip2) is a Godsend for me.
I did manage to swing the Peavey Sanpera II (Mk II) foot-controller for my Vip2.
Sweetwater has the Pro for a hundred off at 499.99 right now.
I have used the head phones out to my Peavey XXL heads return loop / 425 Marshall cab
and the Vip 2 just Rawks!!!
The local amp tech can put a line out with volume pot for $75.00. Wish these amps
had a line out.

Re: Vypyr Pro / Vip 2
I listened to the demo again.
He is using preexisting patches, which I am not so concerned with.
I so enjoy the Peavey amp selections themselves, and build a tone from there.
That is my main concern, that the Peavey amp selections themselves, would be the
same from the Vip 2 to the Pro.
Thanks for your patients with me.

Re: Vypyr Pro / Vip 2
i have a VIP 1 and a Pro.
no comparison, really - the Pro blows it away.
for the $50 i paid on Craigslist, the VIP1 is a FANTASTIC sounding little amp, however.
you really can't use Youtube audio as a way to judge a guitar amp - it can give you a general idea, but you need to actually PLAY an amp to know if it has that "chunk" and feel. unfortunately for the Pro, you probably will never be able to try one as i've never seen them in stock at music stores (at least not when i was considering one). i took a chance and ordered one, and am glad i did.

Re: Vypyr Pro / Vip 2
Thank you Landshark for your reply.
I agree with all that you have said, and I too
have not seen the Pro either in guitar stores to try.
I am feeling better about the Pro. Thanks everyone for the
reassurance.

the Pro is worth it for ease of use alone ... more knobs, 4 "module" displays and a main display. VIP sounds decent, but adjusting things is a nightmare.
not a lot of good Pro videos to get a feel of the tones, but Willy Booger's is pretty good ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cU-bgInDJY

Ohhhhhhhhhh Landshark, that is the confirmation I was hoping to hear!
Thanks so much!
Willy demos the amps themselves. He does my favorite at the moment, the
classic 50.
I hear how awesome the Pro really is, and the core amps models are the same.
Thank you for your effort on my behalf.
