Here are some adds for a Transformer (in the USA):

The cheapest solution would be to do like Landshark did: buy a cheap (but great) effecs-pedal and use that in front of your VIP2.
You could buy a digital effects-pedal with plenty of effects (like a Digitec, Zoom or Line6 for under $100).
Or you can use several old-fashioned stomp-boxes (like the 'good' old days
)...
I found that the Vypyr VIP sounds great with effects in front of the amp. Off course, you'll still need to use the reverb and delay on the amp itself, 'cause they need to be last in the signal chain...
Thanks Fastwind for the tip on espotted! Never heard or seen espotted before. Is trust worth??
I have some reservations about buying older gear like this thou. Even thou its solid state, parts do age, and may be hard to find.
I agree with you about the VIP takes pedals in front really well. I use my MXR phaser pedal this way. If my VIP had an effects loop
I would go 4CM. My VIPs noise gate is set bad. Really noticeably cuts out when not playing the gainier stuff as well as on the clean.
No way to adjust this either.
I have been looking at everything again....Even tube combos
Too bad Peavey, or some member on here can't get into the software of the VIPs and make the adjustments to the effects and noise gate.
J_fury68 has a kick butt effects loop mod!
The effects loop mod would be great, if you're feeling adventurous...
It still leaves the noise-gate problem, though...
In the end, if you like the sound of the Vypyr, the Vypyr Pro would give you the best results. It has everything the VIP has, plus A LOT more.
Look at the plus-points:
- You have the same great Vypyr-sound
- You can set-up the noise gate (or turn it off all together),
- you can put the effects in any order you like (exept for reverb & delay)
- you can even use multiple amps in parallel (ex.: a Peavey classic 30 + a Marshall Plexi) and blend them (choice of 27 amps!)
- the Vypyr Pro has an input-attenuator (so you can fine-tune the amp to your guitar's output)
- You can adjust the 'Resonance' (for floppy or tight bass)
- There is a build-in DI with speaker simulator, so you can send the signal straight to the PA without miking the amp
- An easy-to-use editor via computer
- An effects-loop
- For playing at home, you can dial down the power from 100 Watts all the way to 1Watt (it really works!)
-...
In fact, the only negative things in reviews I have read were the sensitivity of the effects and the price of the Sanpera Pro.
The effects are not a problem; just put your favorite effect in the loop. If it has midi, you can program it along with the amp.
As for the Sanpera, you can use other (cheaper) midi-controlers like the Beringer FCB1010 or the Sanpera I or II.
Damn, I sound just like a salesperson right now, sorry
But you have to admit: it IS a stellar amp for the price...
