VIP2 - best way to use with multi fx pedal?

I'm thinking about getting a EHX Magnum 44 to use as a power amp and a cab 1x12 or 2x12...

That should work with your G5n...
Although I would prefer to use the G5n with a powered monitor like the Behringer F1320, ( http://www.music-group.com/Categories/B ... 0D/p/P0AA9# ) so I could select my prefered cab-sim on the Zoom.
For playing live, it has a DI output for going staight to the mixing desk (no need for a mike...)

That would work great too to play at home.
But with only a 5'25" speaker, you're not going to hear much bass response...
For live guitar you would need at least a 10' speaker (preferably 12').

Do you guys know if Tuner mode in VIP goes directly to Power Amp? Because tone controls have no effect in this mode, but master volume does.

Tuner mode bypasses the Encoder to give a clean signal for tuning. Master volume is on the power amp.
