Q vs BW for DSP PEQ's

Post by uranium4sale » Wed Feb 22, 2017 6:45 am

The PEQ's on the VSX 26 measures in bandwidth and the new VSX26/48e measure in Q which are not one in the same. I have copied the QW2/218 settings manually into my new VSX48e and just used the same numbers that the presets had for BW and plugged them in as Q. Can I just use a chart like the one listen in the manual of the EU112 speaker to convert the values? I've found some other charts online too or is there a better way to address this?

uranium4sale,

I feel/felt your pain.. I see you got no replies on this and just wondered if your conversion sheet you posted worked out.
I just got a VSX 48e to update from a VSX 26, but prior to that a DBX480 for my 6 and sometimes 8 hang VersArray MK1...I got the 48e because I was having a hard time finding a 48. All the presets for a 48 are posted on Peavey's website so I really wanted that DSP. https://peavey.com/support/software/vsx48_presets.cfm

Well to my surprise :? the VSX48 preset files are not compatible with the VSX48e, But the 48e PC Editor is a BIG improvement over the old VSX26 Control Panel Editor (that was flakey, but usable). In the Editor when I got to the EQ settings I noticed that the Q Factor is used instead of BandWidth settings. I found this site with the math and a BW to Q converter really helpful. http://www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-bandwidth.htm

Hopefully this sites converter is the correct numbers I need to enter.

Bill
