Peavey VIP Vyper 2 need help getting started
Can someone clue me in here. I got this Peavey VIP VYper 2 and it came with a CD that has "revalver" and "reaper" on it. I get that reaper is recording software. I'm not sure what to do with "revalver" since it kills the sound to the amp speaker. I'm reading online that apparently I need "Peavey Edit" software to make adjustments to the amp? Mine did not come with a CD for that. Do I download it online or something? It's certainly not clear in the paperwork that came with the amp.

Re: Peavey VIP Vyper 2 need help getting started
Thank you, I'm starting to get it figured out. I have Peavey edit on my computer now. I see 4 software downloads available: the 2 listed in the middle appear to be firmware updates? I get a message saying I need the appropriate app? Don't know what that means. the last one on the list is the Updater and I can't get that to load (there is no swx file). Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Peavey Edit works but seems buggy and crashes a lot.

I haven't seen complaints about bugs or crashes, so I can't help much there. I can tell you to ignore the firmware updates. The last VIP update was from 2013, so unless your amp is seven years old it does not need an update.
Note, the only update for the VIP ever was to allow it to talk to the editor. So, if Vypyr edit works at all, there is no need for an update. If you did need one, the editor would inform you of this when you attempted to use it.
Also, the versions of Revalver and Reaper on that disc are seriously out of date. If you are interested in Reaper, I suggest you visit https://www.reaper.fm/.
For Revalver, which is completely unrelated to your Vypyr VIP, see https://www.audiomediaresearch.com/

Thanks so much I really appreciate it. I'm going to go ahead and assume Peavey Edit is working as it should.
Now I need to figure out Reaper so i can record myself. In "preferences", I go to "Audio System" and can select the following options: 1)WaveOut 2)WDMKernel 3)DirestSound 4)ASIO 5)DummyAudi 6)WASAPI. For starters, I need to know what I'm supposed to select.
