CS1000 jumper modules

Post by awsumandy » Thu Jan 30, 2020 11:44 am

My friend runs a pro sound business and he's trying to use a couple of old CS1000 power amps. However, they are missing the jumper modules that are required for using the xlr inputs. Are they available, or, failing that, is there a standard octal plug that could be wired to perform the same function?
Thanks, Andy

Strictly speaking they are not octal, they have eleven pins. I suspect Peavey Parts has them if you CALL them.

All the jumper modules do is let you use the other input connectors. The XLR jacks will not be balanced inputs though. To have the XLR inputs balanced, you need TRANSFORMER modules. One jack is named transformer, the other named crossover. You would still need jumper plugs in the crossover jacks.

Thanks Enzo, much appreciated. I'll call Peavey to check availability. In the mean time, will the 1/4" line in jacks will work just fine in an single ended (non differential and un-isolated) configuration?

The plain old inputs should work as intended. And you can use external matching transformers - ie you don't HAVE to use the Peavey plug-in ones.

Isn't there a connection diagram on the top surface of the amp? You can download the owner manual from the PV web site under support, manuals.

Thanks Enzo, but I dont have the amp, it's at my friends shop. I have found some cheap relays with 11 pin amphenol bases. If they fit physically, I'll remove the relay guts and rewire them according to the schematic in the manual which I downloaded. That way he can at least use the xlr inputs in a non isolated fashion.

Seriously, CALL parts at Peavey and see if they still have them in stock.
