Peavey Electronics Walks To Beat Diabetes

Music and audio innovator Peavey Electronics is "Walking To Beat Diabetes" in support of the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi. Featuring multiple fund-raising drives and events to raise money and awareness for the foundation, the campaign will culminate with Peavey's participation in Mississippi's Walk for Diabetes at Bonita Lakes Park in Meridian, MS on October 17, 2015.
In addition to raising money through pledges and donations for the walk, the Peavey Wellness team is selling Diabetes Foundation fund-raising items including diabetes awareness bracelets, team mascot stuffed animals, and t-shirts featuring custom Peavey artwork and the team's slogan, "Walking to Beat Diabetes." Peavey is also donating the proceeds from a signed Marvel® Avengers guitar to the foundation. Boasting highly detailed artwork of Iron Man™, Captain America™ and Thor™, this Peavey Predator® electric guitar is autographed by the legendary Stan Lee, co-creator of such Marvel comic icons as Spider-Man™, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk™ and more.
Peavey's involvement in Mississippi's Walk for Diabetes is an extension of the company's award-winning corporate wellness program. Implemented in 2013, Peavey Wellness is an innovative employee wellness program instituted by Peavey Electronics President Mary Peavey, who recognized the need for a more health-focused work environment. The program has earned Distinction and Achievement Recognition from United Healthcare, as well as being named "Mississippi Corporate Role Model" by HR Professionals Magazine and being recognized as one of "Mississippi's Healthiest Workplaces" by the Mississippi Business Journal.
Mississippi's Walk for Diabetes is the primary annual fundraiser for The Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi, the state's premier nonprofit health organization working to prevent diabetes and associated complications. The foundation works to improve the lives of every child, adult, and family touched by type 1 or type 2 diabetes through education, support, advocacy, medical assistance and research.
The foundation will host seven walks in the fall all around the state of Mississippi. Donations raised fund the programs and services of the foundation, including Camp Kandu, Mississippi's only camp for children with diabetes and their families, “Sweet Subject” school diabetes education, kids' backpacks, diabetes dog grants, medical supplies, and more.
