Peavey Electronics recently co-sponsored a special event featuring a performance by Ice-T and Mr. X, co-founders of the record label Electronic Beat Empire (EBE Nation). The event took place April 25 at Schimanski nightclub in Brooklyn, N.Y., and featured the rawest techno/tech-house, rap-rock-pop and EDM music. Peavey partnered with DJ Times Magazine to organize the evening, with additional support from DJ Dramos of Z100.
The party kicked off at 9 p.m. with a set by DJ Tommy Capretto, as guests enjoyed an open-bar hour courtesy of Peavey. Excitement was in the air with media coverage and special Peavey guest appearances, including hip-hop producer DJ Keith Shocklee, an original member of Public Enemy and The Bomb Squad. Peavey representatives and DJ ambassador DJ GROOVE were also on hand to give away peavey merch and prizes throughout the evening.
Later in the evening, headliners Ice-T and Mr. X performed their party-rocking set. The joining of their eclectic musical tastes serves as the premise for EBE Nation. Both of these accomplished artists bring a level of musical and visual understanding to the label, which looks to the future by pulling from the past. Ice-T is a rapper, record producer and actor most widely recognized for his recurring role as police Detective Odafin “Fin” Tutuola on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” Early in his career, Ice-T pushed musical boundaries by recording and performing with the heavy metal band Body Count. He has achieved multiple Billboard hit singles, including collaborations with Black Sabbath and Slayer. Mr. X (also known as Afrika Islam) is a multi-platinum music producer, hip-hop pioneer and techno DJ/producer. He has been a fixture in the European techno scene for 16 years and has thrilled audiences in now-legendary raves.
Mr. X is the first major artist signed to EBE Nation with his E.P. release, “The Brutal.” His current releases include the E.P. “LIVE In Berlin: Dark Ass Club” and the singles “Psycho Bells” and “Smack Your Lips.” Eager to work with new talent, EBE Nation recently put out an open casting-call for the label’s latest E.P., “EDM Mafia”, due out spring/summer 2019. Professional and amateur music producers and remixers were invited to send in their submissions for an opportunity to work on the release.
