Mark Capps Makes Peavey Studio Pro M2 His 'Go-to Mic'

Producer and recording engineer Mark Capps has given the Peavey Studio Pro M2 microphone a prominent spot in his gear mix at Soundshop in Nashville."The Studio Pro M2 has quickly become my go-to microphone of choice," said Capps. "It excels on everything from acoustic piano and dobro guitar to vocals, B-3, string quartets and even drum overheads. I'm really impressed by the hot output, and they have a very low signal-to-noise ratio. My mixes rarely need any EQ."A staff engineer at Soundshop Recording Studios since 1989, Capps has engineered and produced hundreds of sessions with artists including Bruce Springsteen, Brooks & Dunn, Alabama, Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris, Trace Adkins, Drew Womack, The Mavericks and Aaron Tippin. The Peavey Studio Pro M2 is a pressure-gradient transducer with a gold-plated, double-membrane capsule with a selector switch for cardioid, figure 8 and omni pickup patterns. The M2 also features roll off and pad switches, a large diaphragm for extended low end and -10 dB attenuation that allows the microphone to handle up to 140 dB without distortion. The Studio Pro Series also includes the cardioid-only M1 model and the CM1, a handheld condenser microphone.
