Peavey artists, The Cold Stares, are among 10 bands competing for the Hard Rock Café's Ambassadors of Rock title for 2010 and a chance to perform at Hard Rock Calling 2010 in London. The Nashville duo are finalists in the Hard Rock Café's Ambassadors of Rock Battle of the Bands.
Fans can vote for the band through June 6 at https://battle.ambassadorsofrock.com/thecoldstares/.
If The Cold Stares win, they'll perform at Hard Rock Calling, on the same bill as Paul McCartney, Pearl Jam, Stevie Wonder, and many others. The festival takes place June 25-27 in London's Hyde Park.
The Cold Stares are Chris Tapp on vocals and guitar and Brian Mullins on drums. They describe their soulful roots rock as "The Pixies meet Muddy Waters meets Black Sabbath meets Son House meets P.J. Harvey."
To become finalists, the band won the last local phase of the Ambassadors of Rock Battle of the Bands, hosted by Hard Rock Café's across the U.S. in April. They were then handpicked by a panel of experts, including: "Little" Steven Van Zandt; Doug Brod, editor of Spin Magazine; Toby-Leighton Pope, VP of Promotions for Live Nation; and previous winner Rudy Vaughn, of The Rudy Vaughn Band.
The duo is recording their first full album in July and are on tour this summer. The band's EP is currently available via iTunes.
