An impressive mixing console of its kind.

What is your opinion of this product?

This unique mixing console outshines in its fast GUI, individual musician assignable mixe Busses with individual remote controls (secure WiFi Hotspot and LAN), and playback (Bluetooth) access to the mixer without having to download any APP on your device. Multiple operations of channel GAIN and PAN, simultaneous layer operation with multiple faders control onboard and on the tablet/Andriod devices. An immediate glance of channels Gain, EQ, Comp, Gate, Pan, Effect, and Busses. The EQ is lovely in its spice.

An outstanding feature-packed yet easy to use digital mixer!

What is your opinion of this product?

I have experience with five other digital mixers across four brands, and the Aureus is hands-down the best I have used. The 10-inch screen is top-quality - using it feels as though you are using a high-end tablet. Touch sensitivity is perfect, and the screen responds instantly and smoothly. Encoder knobs and the large parameter knob make changes quick and accurate. Or touch a feature and drag on the screen to make changes. Unlike many other mixers, in the Aureus, all 16 primary inputs are combo 1/4" / XLR. In addition, stereo inputs 17/18, 19/20, and 21/22 have a "mono" feature allowing you to plug in to only one of the paired inputs, and have that input routed to both left and right main outputs. In addition to using this for cover bands in varoius configurations, I also use it to support outdoor worship at our church, and the instrument and vocal lineup can vary tremendously week-to-week. The combo and stereo-to-mono input options make channel / cable assignments on the fly so much easier to manage, as do stock and user-defined presets for vocals and instruments. Fit and finish is to Peavey's usual high standards. Motorized faders, physical buttons, and encoder knobs all feel rock-solid. Wireless access is straightforward and simple, and it is really nice to be able to use any HTML-5 compatible browser as opposed to a dedicated app. The tablet slot on the mixer is a nice touch for dual-screen monitoring, and remote access allows other devices to be used for controlling front-of-house and individual monitor mix busses. Effects are of good quality and easy to assign and dial in. Peavey has made it simple and fast to create and access mute groups, and to mute / unmute effects. The "all mute" button is handy at the end of a service or gig - no more pops from premature cable disconnects. Saving scenes and prests is straightforward, and recall is fast. Kudos to Peavey for an outstanding product!

Q & A

Subject: Connecting mixer to phone or iPad
Discussion: How do I connect the mixer to a phone? Peavey Response: You can use Bluetooth -Thanks to 16 XLR-1/4", RCA, Bluetooth, and USB inputs, the Aureus can connect to most audio sources.
Dj Extreme
Subject: Presets and talk back
Discussion: Where can I download presets that are not on mixer already is there like a link to them? Also is there a talk back ? Peavey Response: You can make and store as many presets as you want, the presets loaded on the mixer to begin with are a starting off point. There is no Talkback specific channel, but any channel can be assigned as Talkback.

Subject: USB interface?
Discussion: My understanding is that currently the Aureus 28 has only stereo recording / playback via USB. I'm interested to know if there are plans to update the software to include multiple channels of computer IO over USB? Peavey Response: Not with the current hardware platform.
David Malmquist

Subject: daw
Discussion: Does it have Daw control? What file formats and sample rates does it support? Peavey Response: It does not have DAW control and USB is FAT32
Joe Florio

Subject: Using outboard equipment with an Aureus 28 digital mixer
Discussion: I have bought this mixer and will be testing it out in the next couple of days. What's not clear is can I hook up outboard FX and apply them to any/all of the channels? Looking at the back of the board, I'm not sure how I would route any outboard equipment, as nothing is designated "auxiliary" ins and outs. I appreciate any help greatly. Joe Peavey Response: Great questions. When routing external FXs you will need to use one of the AUX outputs. Since this is an XLR connection you will more than likely need an adapter, that AUX (Bus) send will become your output and send the signals into the FX unit, then the FX return will have to come back into a regular channel. This is the old school way of hooking up external FXs. It does end up using up and output and an input channel, but it works just fine. Hope that helps.
