Product Description

Rage® 258 Guitar Combo Amp
The basic building blocks of the TransTube sound are the exclusive designs of the preamp and power amp. The preamp section tailors gain to meet the need for any amount of drive, from crystal clear to thick, smooth sustain. The power amp reacts just like a tube output section by responding to the preamp with natural compression that increases as the amp gets louder. With TransTube, you get a killer amp with widely ranging dynamics and natural "grit," just like a tube amp!

Great clean sound
Overall

What is your opinion of this product?

I like the sound, but wanted less of a speaker breakup. I upgraded the Blue Marvel with an Eminence 75 watt. I can peg this amp all day long now and it sounds great!! More Bass with this speaker too.

I’ve had a smile on my face for 26 years and it’s because of this 15 watt as amp

What is your opinion of this product?

The best 15 watt combo ever tube or not!! Christmas of 1996 I was 8 and my last gift to open was a big box so when I ripped the gift rap off I saw a Peavey cardboard box and started crying before I could say anything. My dad came down the hallway with a case and my world changed with a used ‘80s t-60 in natural and a brand spanking new, just released silver stripe, Peavey rage 158 and after all these years I haven’t had to do any service besides re-flowing the input jack a few times and recovering the baffle in a rad cheetah print and relocating the Peavey badge as a ode to fender (if u don’t know why then do some research on the beginning of peavey). Fortunately, through the years I’ve found 3 more rage 158 silver stripes all under 20 bucks each and have done the same cosmetic mods and I run all 4 with some custom splitter boxes and them daisy chained together blows any half stack out of the water and it’s pretty cool seeing a pile of unwanted vintage peavey amps on a stage! Everyone scratches their heads when they see them but that stops when they hear them! You can literally get any tone you want out of any trans tube rage and they handle pedals just as good as a tube amp does which is almost impossible to with any solid state amps. If your thinking about getting a rage 158, do it!!! And FYI the silver and red stripe models of the rage 158s and blazer 158 use the same pcb so if u want reverb and can’t find a blazer158 u can just load the reverb section of the pcb and get a spring tank and done you got reverb for 25 bucks and Peavey will email you the schematics to do it !! Now go find a rage 158 and don’t take the post gain over 2 or 3 without hearing protection.

...EVERYTHING GETS BETTER THE LOUDER IT GETS!!!....

What is your opinion of this product?

Smoking little amp. Blown away by how the 8"Blue Marvel remains true, even at max volume...gig worthy also, just mic it or patch in.
